National Trust Bench

Fuldiew Stone Bench

Moyle District Council

I was commissioned to make a sculptural seat for the National Trust village of Cushendun in Northern Ireland.

The relief carving is in Portland limestone. It depicts a local folk tale about a young woman searching for her lover, who has been lost at sea in a fishing accident. I hand-carved a quotation from the story around the top of the stone.

The seat is made of naturally split slate from Donegal and the bench seat is green oak.
